It’s Not That Difficult
It’s the day after Christmas and I am sensing a theme on social media. In addition to the normal pictures and videos of happy children, there is a plethora of videos regarding unhappy women.
Several videos depict women who did all the shopping and wrapping for the family, only to have empty stockings and not one present under the tree. Most mention smiling through the day and pretending everything is just great without saying a word.
In addition, there are the videos of women who made specific requests that were ignored. These requests were not ignored for financial reasons either, they may have asked for one thing and received another that was much higher in price, but clearly not what they asked for. One woman requested a small ring from a brand she liked and apparently received a scale?! I have sooo many questions about that! Someone else received an expensive vacuum that she didn’t ask for. Note for Men: Please don’t give women cleaning appliances as a gift unless they have specifically asked for them.
However, it’s the alarming number of women who received nothing at all that’s disturbing. If you know the person you raise children with, handles everything for everyone, is it that hard to put a few items in her stocking? Or just make sure she has something to open on Christmas morning?
What’s interesting is the amount of people in the comments telling these women they are being materialistic for being upset. Really? Perhaps it’s about having someone think of you, put some effort in for you and not so much about anything else. Would we tell the men they were being materialistic if no one in the family thought of them?
